Ok, well hahah I guess in keeping with the theme of this blog, the first thing I wanted to blog about was this game that I have been addicted to for the last week or so. Mobsters its on Myspace.
Like most of the online games I have found in the last year, my co-worker and friend, Anthony, got me to take a look at and start playing Mobsters.
So for a while I just kinda watched him play and then I got curious (not to mention I am apparently very competitive) and I decided I would bite the bullet and install the app.
Mind you, I try to avoid those apps, I do not enjoy adding them to my facebook, my myspace, or anything else, simply because you never know what you are going to get.
Anyways, before I get too far off track. It started simple enough, you get the chance to choose your character name and type from the get go. One thing I do not agree with is the fact that it asks you to choose what kind of character you want (Insomniac, Bulletproof, Tycoon) yet gives you no information other than the benefits of these characters. This would be ok, but what no one knows is the nature of the gameplay, and how this choice could affect their character.
When this happened, I tried to do some reading up on the game online, and surprise, I didn't find much of anything. Nada. Zilch. Zero. (At the time of writing this, though, apparently there are numerous sites/bloggers that have thrown their hat into the ring)
So, blindly I chose the character type that matched me the most: Insomniac. Wow did I hit the Jackpot. Each of the character types gets an advantage of 10% in its specialty. I have listed them below:
Insomniac - 10% faster recharge time for Energy
Bulletproof - 10% faster health regeneration time
Tycoon - 10% faster time to make money/10% increase in money made from territories (not completely sure on this one)
So, Anthony took Tycoon thinking he would make more money, and I started a few days after him and chose Insomniac.
Currently I am 1 week I think into the game, and I have about 50 million dollars in the bank.
I have about 200 something million dollars in property and about 40 million dollars in equipment (Weapons/Armor/Cars). Anthony is not doing so well and jokes about giving me grief about it.
I attribute this my good standing in the game to a few key things. I wanted to share these with you below. This is the way that hopefully this post will achieve my goal of 'Making Your World More Enjoyable'.
My Keys to Success in the game (without cheating! we will discuss this later as well)
Not knowing much about the game at first, this took me about a full day to figure a strategy out, then one more day to realize where I was wrong, and create a totally new strategy. So here you go, please do not hesitate to give me feedback.
1) Careful Equipment purchasing - what, when, why
2) Missions - Running them. A LOT! Also, which ones to avoid.
3) Skill Points - How you spend these is up to you, but they can shape your game early on
4) Godfather Points - Why to wait to spend them, and how to get more!
5) Territory - When to buy? How much to buy? Why buy?
6) Your Mob - Why this both is and is not important! Also how to keep your friends list small!
7) Keeping a chart of Cash Cows! - If they bleed money, then grab a towel!
8) The Bank - Simple as that, USE IT.
9) Bulletins - Stop the chain letter spam. None of those methods work
10) Mobsters Cheats - There are some out there... Obviously if you look at 'LulzOwnt'
Ok, so I know that was a long list, but hey apparently top 10 lists are the rage.
Now, to make things easier on you, I will be blogging about each one of these items seperately. That way you don't have to read through 1-6 to find out about 7. This way, I feel people will be more likely to come back for information that they want, when they want it.
So, first post, Check. Helpful, semi-check. Next 10 posts, really helpful hopefully!
Talk to you soon!
